Belgian food (and drink... mostly drink, really. It's Belgium!)

meatballs, beef-and-beer stew, carrot and neep mash at Beer Circus
fries with meat gravy and garlic mayonaisse
not pictured: fries with a different sort of garlic mayonaisse, fries with spicy sauce, fries with ketchup-mayo-chopped onions, fries with etc. etc. etc.

And now on to the beer! Lyla and I made a point to rate and describe each beer we tried. Beware, this is soon to become ridiculous.
Lupulus (Courtil, 8.5%) blond, bitter, herbal, fruity-- 4.5 stars
Hervoise (Hombourg, 8.2%) strange at first but it grows on you, amber with apple and pear syrup, lightly sweet but malted taste-- 3.5 stars from Lauren, 4 stars from Lyla
left: Papajaei (Diksmuide 8.5%) classy parrot label, almost honeyed but light, vaguely floral but slightly bitter at end-- 3.5 stars
right: Ara Bier (Esen, 8%) boozing rooster on bowtie-wearing bottle, crazy head, HOPS mothaf***er, malt backtaste, the Darcy of beers-- 3 stars. 5 stars for bottle
Brugse Zot (unknown) tastes like a malty lager-- 2 stars

Cuvee de Trolls (Pipaix, 7%) blonde, fruity smell, rather malty for a light-colored beer, smells real nice, cute motifs-- 4 stars
